Now-President Lcn has successfully rallied support to oust Unity: Why?
Following his deportation from the Commonwealth, the responsibilities and powers of the President were assumed by the then-Vice President lcn, whom approved 5 and vetoed one bill within hours from the assumption of powers. Within 9 to 10 hours, six executive orders were rescinded, much to the support of many, as the announcement messages for these actions were showered with positive reactions. The Actnig President then went onto continue his duties with signing of bills, appointment of acting secretaries and an attempted push for a much-controversial Election Foundations Act. On the 17th of January, while the President UnityMaster was still deported, the then-Acting President lcn published an "Incapacitation Letter", signed by the entirety of the cabinet, which outlined many accusations against the then-President, and wished to declare him incapacitated through the process made available by the Section 46 of the Constitution.
In an event Unity describes as a coup, the incapacitation letter coasted through the House with 6 in favour and 2 abstaining, with none against. While having seeing not as much support in the Senate, the incapacitation was approved by the Senate in a 3-2-1 vote. On the 19th of January, just two days after the publication of the letter, lcn was the new President of the Commonwealth. LCN made an announcement declaring his presidency, thanking those who helped in the decision process. While the circumstances are unfortunate, I would like to wish UnityMaster well and all the best in his future endeavours.
In an interview with a Secretary that wished to remain anonymous, they stated, I do believe the incapacitation was necessary for a couple reasons.
While they disagreed with the argument that some of his actions were illegal, they stated, Unity did not like how certain things turned out and instead of providing constructive feedback, he belittled and insulted both Secretaries and employees.
They also clarified that while they did not have problems communicating with Unity, they could not speak for the other departments and secretaries. However, they added that an Executive Order which affected their department was not alerted to them by the then-President Unity, and they only noticed since they and a member of the department were keeping track of any upcoming laws. However, if we hadn't been paying attention and didn't hire [the employee], we would've missed it.
When Lcn was asked about communication between the cabinet and the then-President regarding the issues, he commented; Many of the issues outlined in the letter I had communicated with him while in office, an a few I discovered while talking to the cabinet about it, for instance the executive orders that were not communicated.
and he added I was suprised to learn how much he did not communicate. There was more than I thought when I started.
He also added that he had advised him on many of the issues when they were both in office, but He did not act on them much.
He added that this was an issue his entire term.
Ex-President Rejects the Letter's Accusations
It is a clear power grab [by] lcn. It is that simple.
When interviewed by T&P, the former President Unity clearly disapproved of the Incapacitation, and found it to be a grave misuse of the powers. Lcn has refused to communicate with me the entire time of my ban and has lied to multiple of my secretaries and offered multiple quid pro quo deals in exchange for positions and signatures on my incapacitation. [...] He is taking advantage of a [deportation] to gain power.
he alleged.
If he were acting in the interests of the commonwealth he would be communicating with the elected president. Not to mention he has begun acting as a dictator. Serving as Health Secretary, President and Vice President. Breaking ties in the senate and making bill decisions without consulting any senior administration staff or officers. It is completely unprecedented and against the separation of powers vital to a [Republic]. It is a clear power grab [by] lcn. It is that simple.
Furthermore, when asked about the quid-pro-quo deals, and more specifically who was involved, he commented; I’m not sure they’d like me to discuss that, but some current secretaries, very prominent political figures.
Lcn made some blatant lies in the letter ...
When asked more in detail about the specific accusations made in the letter, he commented on multiple accusations. To the late disclosures, he stated; Jediajman was my press secretary and has neglected his duties before I had to step in and do them. I had fixed and addressed this prior to my deport with making announcements on my own behalf and creating a press corps and mandating weekly department update reports aswell as policy polling (both of which lcn has cancelled).
For the delayed signature and approval of many bills awaiting presidential ascent, he commented; There were issues with some bills legally speaking and I had been advised not to sign them. Additionally, the presiding officers had not once told me during my term when a bill would be on my desk. I would learn when someone would ask me about said bill.
As for the lack of communication before the enactment of EOs and Acts, he stated;
All eos except for yakcare was communicated with the respective departments aswell as lcn. Lcn made some blatant lies in the letter on that front. [...] The department of interior was consulted on [Executive Orders regarding them]. I had a vc conversation with the secretaries of the education, commerce and interior departments on that, actually. That’s just a blatant lie. I even sent some messages to kvo going over it. Additionally, we discussed it during cabinet meetings. When I originally brought up the monthly economic report, it had support from both the vp and tech but it doesn’t even matter as I wasn’t president when that was signed. The department of interior has also complained about of lack of work publicly. I also had another eo to fix the issues with tenders written. The department of health has had a secretary on leave for the entire term so I didn’t feel the need to consult.
He added;
The secretaries serve at the presidents pleasure not the other way around. I was elected on a mandate to enact yakcare so I did. It was only one of my election promises. The executive order itself is a directive for the departments. It is the same as me going to the secretary and giving them an order.
He also stated that the letter had made multiple accusations of him signing illegal EOs among other allegedly illegal activities, and that none of these were proven in a court of law.
Lcn has stolen what was promised to the people.
In his closing remarks, Unity stated the following;
Lcn supported all of the EOs I signed until it was convenient for him not to. He had went around asking for opinions on if he should run for president and then couped me for PR to launch himself into the presidency. It’s a clear coup. The letter details multiples lies and lots of rumours. It accuses me of crimes but I’ve not even had a trial. This violates my rights. Lcn was acting as both president and Vice President and violating separation of powers. Breaking ties in senate while being president. Why wasn’t this an impeachment trial if I had committed crimes? [...] Incapacitation is for when I am incapable of doing my job. I wrote more bills than all but two members of congress the previous term. The letter itself mentions that I signed some bills quickly. I shattered the record for executive orders signed by a president.
I ran on being a hands off ceo president in which I would run my administration through my staffers and it’s exactly what I did. Lcn has stolen what was promised to the people. He has removed executive orders for arbitrary reasons such as the town reforms saying they should all be in one EO. He has not replaced these however. I was removed for a lack of transparency in part but lcn has reverted the policies set in place to mend this. Additionally I had attempted to set up an in game event to address the commonwealth and congress but only 2 of the congresspeople responded to the organization of the event. I can only do so much when the people surrounding me don’t do their jobs.The [Department of Interior] was literally given the exact numbers needed for tenders and made zero moves towards doing the work. The [Department of Construction and Transport] illegally deleted an entire block of buildings by end negotiating deals against the governments wishes.
I was only doing what I was elected to do. I had worked harder than any other president in history. They stole the largest reforms in the servers history from the people. They couped me when I couldn’t even respond or defend myself. […] Ask my special advisors who was more active, lcn or I. Lcn loved and supported everything I was doing as a president. So did the senators that abstained. Lcn literally bribed yeetboy with [Vice Presidency] beforehand, knowing that yeet wants to be in the brown house. There were also huge COIs with much of the senate voting. Specifically end.
Unity stated that he will be taking a break from his carreer for the foreseeable future.
The Lawsuit
On the 17th, following the release of the incapacitation letter, Unity, represented by DragonLaw, has launched a lawsuit against Lcn, and all of the cabinet members as "Co-Conspirators". Alleging that the incapacitation letter was illegal and invalid, the lawsuit seeks the invalidation of the incapacitation, as well as $50,000 in punitive and another $50,000 in emotional damages, as well as a $30,000 in legal fees.
While the lawsuit also came attached with an emergency injunction to freeze the incapacitation, this request was neither granted or denied, as the summons have been issued without a response to it yet. AlexanderLove, the primary representative in the case, stated the following;
The treatment of UnityMaster, our elected executive of the Commonwealth, is an injustice. A sham incapacitation is being rubber stamped so that lcn can seize power. In a move that I didn't think lcn had the nerve to perform, I underestimated how spineless and ambitious he really is. Today, I stand strong in solidarity with Unity to right this legal wrong. Only the Vice President may pass on a letter of incapacitation to the House, and lcn is not. Furthermore, lcn is the President right now so an incapacitation letter can only incapacitate lcn. I hope the Court does what is right.
